Message from The Conference Chair and Host Sponsor

We are excited to be organizing the 28th Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT) conference, a truly global event that will take place from August 10th to 15th, 2025, at The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The five-day international conference, with the theme 'Harnessing Nuclear Technologies and Innovation as a Path to Net Zero by 2025', is returning to the American continent after the resounding success of the SMiRT 19 conference held in Toronto in 2007 and the successful conferences in San Francisco (2013) and Charlotte (2022). This international conference, which has been organized since 1971, every two years, moves from the Americas to Europe and Asia, and returns to the Americas every six years, is a testament to the global collaboration in our field. The number of participants in the SMiRT conferences ranges from 500 to over 2000, depending on the year. The last conference in 2024, held in Yokohama, attracted more than 600 participants from around the world.

The SMiRT28 conference offers an in-person program including:

  • Plenary sessions on important topics with invited speakers.
  • Parallel technical sessions with author presentations on research papers.
  • Special sessions on current research and novel approaches to solving technical and structural issues.
  • Early Career Day events for young and emerging professionals.
  • Technical and spousal tours.

All pricing is in Canadian currency
